Our Big Kitchen was established in 2005 to connect and empower people by working together to make a difference through food, producing wholesome balanced and nutritious hot meals. The kitchen creates more than 70,000 meals every year for New South Wales services and community groups, such as Youth of the Streets, Vinnies, Wesley mission, Clown Doctors and Gift of Life to name a few.
Together our team prepared almost 200 meals and desserts for a women’s shelter. The day wasn’t just about getting hands dirty in the kitchen, it was about giving time and the positive impact it can have on others, literally helping put food on the tables for those less fortunate at a time of the year when it’s greatly needed.
George Karounis from Our Big Kitchen said: "We rely on and are so grateful of the support from organisations such as Pernod Ricard to keep our doors open, not only to help cook meals through light work but to help fund our goal in feeding people across Sydney who might not have access to fresh food."
Giving back to the community is an important part of our business, both locally and globally across Pernod Ricard. An example of this is Responsib’ALL Day, an annual day where all employees around the world stop work on the same day to give back to the community in which they operate in. Pernod Ricard Winemakers also offers volunteer leave so the team have the opportunity to give their time to an activity of their choice.
